Communication and Services

Your confidentiality is of the utmost importance and will be strictly maintained. Your medical information will not be released to anyone (including family members) without your consent.

Emails

As technology grows, we have moved to a clinic wide email system and are asking all patients to consent to e-mail communication. We would like to assure you that each email sent to you is tailored to your specific care needs.

This service allows us to communicate with you regarding:

  • Any preventative care reminders (i.e. upcoming flu shots, targeted programs).
  • For reminding you about your upcoming appointments.
  • Physician contact with external Health Care Providers (i.e. specialists, labs etc.) regarding your medical care needs.
  • Direct communication to you from your Family Physician. We recognize email is effective communication but currently we only support outbound messages.

Please visit the clinic to sign your consent form.

Telephone Services

We are committed to responding to your telephone calls in a timely fashion. We want to give you the time needed to answer all your questions. Our telephone system is set up to place calls in priority sequence. We understand that waiting in queue can be frustrating, however, we encourage you to stay on the line and not to hang up. In order to avoid long wait times, if you are calling for a non-urgent request, we recommend calling after 6 pm on weekdays and after 1 pm on Saturdays.

Mail Outs and Newsletters

In an effort to improve our communication, periodically you might receive mail outs and/or newsletters informing you about our office changes or new programs. Kindly take a moment to review the material as it contains important information that affects your health and the health of your family members.

Services

As you know, the Ontario Government covers the cost of providing medically necessary services to patients through the Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP).

Some Insured Services include:

  1. All assessments provided to you by our team members
  2. Abscess incision and drainage
  3. Punch biopsy of skin lesions
  4. Excision of skin lesions
  5. Removal of sutures
  6. Stool fecal occult blood test
  7. ECG

Uninsured Services

Any medical service not covered by OHIP is called an Uninsured service.

Some Uninsured Services include:

  1. Prescription refills by phone
  2. Drivers medical and other third party examinations
  3. Missed appointments
  4. Work and school related notes
  5. Medical forms for insurance, legal or employment purposes
  6. Photocopying, faxing and transfer of medical records

While you can pay for these services on an as needed basis, many patients have found an annual plan to be a more convenient and cost-effective way to manage these charges. The Uninsured Services Plan covers most of your uninsured services for the entire year for one annual fee.

To subscribe to this plan, please complete the registration form or ask for one at your next visit.
