To Our Valued Patients:
We at Woodbridge Medical Centre Family Health Team strongly advise that all our patients who are eligible, be vaccinated against COVID-19. As we enter a 4th wave, it is predominately affecting those who are unvaccinated.
The College of Physicians and Surgeons (CPSO) has advised us that there are very few acceptable medical exemptions for the COVID-19 vaccination can only be given in the following circumstances:
- Allergist/Immunologist – confirmed allergy or anaphylactic reaction to a previous dose or to any of its components that cannot be mitigated
- Cardiologist – confirmed diagnosed episode of myocarditis or pericarditis after receipt of an mRNA vaccine
Letters for such exemptions may only be written by or in consultation with your allergist or cardiologist. We will not be providing medical exemptions to our patients who do not meet the criteria. If you have any questions about the COVID-19 vaccine, please make an appointments with your Physician or Nurse-Practitioner.
We realize that this is a challenging time for everyone. Please remember that we have a zero tolerance policy for abusive language or behaviour towards our staff and physicians. We ask that respectful language and behaviour be used in discussions. We look forward to working with you to end this pandemic.
COVID-19 Vaccines are Safe and Effective.
The best vaccine is the first one offered to you. Everyone is encouraged to take whichever vaccine is available to them as soon as possible.
York Region, in partnership with our local hospitals and community partners, continues to follow the Province’s three-phased Vaccine Distribution Plan.
What can you do while waiting for the vaccine?
The most important thing someone can do while waiting for a vaccine is continuing to follow public health guidelines to limit the spread of COVID-19. When a large percentage of the population, is protected against the virus, the spread of the virus will slow. This is known as herd immunity. Until it’s communicated otherwise, please continue to:
- Follow the public health guidelines in York Region
- Physically distance of at least 2-metres from others
- Wear a mask in indoor public settings and on transit
- Practice proper hand hygiene
- Practice proper respiratory etiquette
- Avoid travelling to lower transmission areas
- Download the COVID Alert app
Book a Vaccine Appointment
Before you book:
- Vaccines are by APPOINTMENT ONLY for eligible individuals; no walk-in appointments. You will be turned away if you do not meet the above eligibility criteria
- Only book ONE appointment; do not book appointments at multiple clinics
- Appointments should be booked for FIRST dose appointments only; if you did not receive a second dose appointment at time of your original booking you will be contacted with information on second dose appointments
- Eligible residents who are not able or not comfortable booking an online appointment are encouraged to seek out a support person (caregiver, family member or friend) to assist with booking an appointment on their behalf
- One family member or caregiver may accompany eligible residents to their appointments; bringing children is not recommended
- A health card is not required to book an appointment, except for the Cornell Community Centre clinic
- Proof of age and residence will be required on the day you receive your vaccine; Health care workers are asked to bring proof of employment (i.e. photo ID or letter from employer)
- Before you attend a COVID-19 vaccine clinic, it’s important you prepare for your COVID-19 vaccine
